This is a topic that definitely resonates with me. I stumbled on the book, How to Take Smart Notes, over the summer while looking into the idea of building a Commonplace Book. I spent a lot of time trying to figure and refigure it out.
Like you said, it’s best to keep it simple and make it work for yourself. Don’t muddy the waters.
In the end, I landed on a tool called Obsidian. It let’s me take my notes digitally and in a pretty powerful yet simple and unobtrusive note taking program.
I’m still working on some or the details, but it’s definitely a game changer having this type of thing in your life. Even the act of building one and considering it’s details will change you.
