A little white feather blew in
on a cool morning breeze
a field full of blackbirds crackling
it was the first morning that felt like fall

Just a normal enough morning breeze
with a hint of chill laced around it
the first crisp morning that felt like fall
the trees blossomed reds and oranges

The morning was a hint of fall ready chill
you could almost smell the pumpkin spice
leaves crackled and crumbled underfoot
the ghost of October rising to haunt

You could almost smell chimney smoke
and bonfires blooming
as the ghost of October stirred again
old haint in a stirred up chilly morning

You could almost smell wood fires
as a field of blackbirds crackled
you could hear the ghost of October
carried with a little white feather
